Yep, and its about to go to the dump. Its an awful waste, with half of it restored, but I am selling the property its stored on, and its got to go. Come get it for free, and hurry. I'm showing the house soon. It is an American Model Raceways Imperial Red, the precursor to what we call a King track today. You'll need a large truck and helpers. Its only 350 miles from you, so you could make two trips if you had to.

Can we get this posted on slotblog. Might be somebody over there would save it. It would be sad to see it gone. It is tempting to me, but it's too much work and really more than I would want. Possibly it could be re-used in some type of 4 lane, smaller setup. That is what I would try and do with it.

I have PM'ed Springer, so we'll see what happens. Anyone who wants to post it elsewhere is welcome to do so, but we have to move fast. I have a buyer for the property coming to look on Saturday.

Thanks for the support, HRW guys, but my track is too big. It won't fit in his building. He just sent me a PM. Rats!!! I'm all out of ways to save the track.

How large is the footprint? I tried searching for it but a bunch of different tracks came up. Really hope you find a home for it...

The footprint is approximately 40 X 24. But to have a walkway around the track, its more like 43 X 26. The donut is the 24 part- otherwise, its 40 X 10. In my 40 X 40 building, it would take a 20+ foot swath diagonally, making my wood shop and boat building area a thing of the past. I had a great plan to create a 30 X 24 track of it, using only one custom section, easy as hell, no more than a weekend's work, with several sections set aside. But its still an 8 lane track with no scenery in a place where there are no more than 5 racers, three of whom are inactive. So, I can waste it one way or another- I just can't conscience the waste. I even offered it to Jay Leno, but incredibly, he has one! It would have been a transcontinental haul, so it was a Hail Mary to begin with.

I've always considered cutting up an old track a possiblity. Instead of an 8 lane monster, cut it down to 4 lanes, using the inside lanes of the widest part and modifying it to a pleasing, but functional plan for the available space. The carpentry work is easy enough, the routing is done, you probably would have enough braid to re-use, you would have wiring and control panels already done. It would be a nice project just to do it and have another project. Guys like us always need projects!

I have a big Carrera 4 lane track and as much as I'd like a routed track again, I can always take this apart, put it in boxes and mail it away!

To make this a 4 lane, it would mean tossing the outside wall and rebuilding it. The other alternative is having it the same footprint with a big empty in the middle. No point. I have been through all of this over two years ago.
