Ahh looking forward to this proxy race.
Rich forgot, the new 1953 uses Trackmate IR hardware with Racecordinator software.

As you can see, the track is good for racing, but no scenery done yet.

Guys,

All of these tracks are extremely impressive! I'm actually feeling kind of privileged to be racing them. For those of us with comparatively small plastic venues, I'd love to hear more about what works well on each.. tires (tyres), weights, guide flags, that sort of thing...

Thanks ever so much from the Tiny Alice Racing team!

my track is the blackwidow posted towards the beginning of this thread

tires
when using rubber tires I always use NSR ultragrips they work very well the supergrips also work
some guy's use slot it n22 tires which also grip great the slot it F22 work good as well but are a pain to true
urethanes work fine but the rubber is better

guides
any guide works fine but if using a slot it wood guide it does pay to trim 1/2 mm of of the bottom
full depth will get around fine but can sometimes scrape the bottom of the slot depending on how you set it up

track braids
the braids are set just below the track surface so if your cars front wheels are just touching the set up board that will work well

a well set up balanced car should be doing average lap times of 5.3 sec a very good car should do 5.1 - 5.2 sec with a very good driver
my lap record is 5.195 sec with a stock slot-it GRP C fitted with treated F22 tires
my 70's scaly F1 car will do 5.2 and that has a 18k scaly motor
so that shows it is not about car speed on my track but how well it is set up
Orakieracer has a quote slow is smooth and smooth is fast

I run at 12 volts with trackmate
any car that is set up square flat level true and well balanced with all 4 wheels touching the track will run great
hope that helps with your car set ups

The Anaconda has a 14.25m lap length and has a gloss enamel surface. I usually run at 10.00volts but may turn the wick up to 12.00volts.
Last year the fastest lap in the Ford/Ferrari proxy was 5.1secs by an NSR Ford MkIV

The track looks grubby but it is just the "rubber" from the tires, grip levels are fine. Sorry about the weird angle of the pictures.

Tracks from the great northwest. These are both tracks we regularly race at with the NASTE group.

Penguin Point
Hillsboro, Oregon

3-lane, 60' routed MDF with Ralph Lauren River Rock paint and magna-braid. Texture is a little like sandpaper. Everyone usually gets good grip. We run rubber and urethane.

Too Bad Motorplex
Fairvew, Oregon

3-lane, 85' routed MDF with copper tape and magnetic paint in the corners. Once again, rubber and urethane tires only.

And we're experienced. We've entered proxy events, conducted proxy rounds, and organized proxy series. We look forward to the opportunity.

This is Pebblestone Model Car Circuit, located in Irvine California.

Image

Image

As you can see, it stands on a patio behind my garage, so we are somewhat weather-dependent for racing. That's what happens out here where there are no basements!

The track is three lanes, each of 60 feet and 3 inches. The inner yellow lane is about 2 tenths slower than the center blue lane, which in turn is about 2 tenths slower than the outer red lane. all this despite equal lap lengths, it is a matter of how the straights and turns combine.

Power is provided by a Pyramid PS26KX variable power supply set to 12 Volts. Race control is via Trackmate.

The track surface is painted with UMA (Urethane-modified Acrylic) which gives good grip for all tire types, although NSR Ultragrips and Slot.it N22 are the tires of choice. The slots are deep enough to accept a full Slot.it wood guide or even a full commercial guide. The track is braided with regular tinned braid that is recessed between .005" and .010"

We also usually video stream the racing action on a Proxy Race day, using my Twitch.tv channel. More info about that closer to the time.

Retaining walls lol.
Actually the whole outside of the track has between 2.5 and 3.0 inch wall around it.
The high point at the esses will have a fence put in, but there are no other areas that require it .
