32 Ford three window coupe - my first hot rod build

Postby VTECFOUR » Sun Jan 15, 2017 8:06 pm

Building my first rod with a body cast from a 32 Ford three window diecast provided by Luf.

Image

Spurred on to build after a friend's generous donation of an assortment of vintage 1/32 Aurora and Lindberg hot rod kit parts.

Image

Got a recent 1/32 Lindberg' release, "Customizable Street Rod" two car kit, coming soon too that'll help this and future rod builds.

This'll be fun.

Yes, these old rides are a fun build. Careful, addictive little rascals.

Some progress. Got chassis built, my usual slimline motor pod with adjustable wheelbase.

Image

Wanted a tall tire look, so equipped the front with Carrera Nascar and BWA LMP rims/Shotgun Dave drag tires at the rear.

Body's mocked for the stance I'm going for.

Working out so far.

CLEAN looking chassis and nice low "modern hot rod" stance!

Body mounted on chassis with posts at front and rear.

Got the the low stance I was going for.

Lindberg 2 in 1 hot rod model kit arrived. Came with lots of chrome and other parts to build a couple of different rods. Impressed with this re-release.

Going the rat rod route.

Made some headlight buckets from model aircraft bombs and mocked them in.

May be a bit exaggerated but in keeping with the theme.

Filed and shaped stock Carrera Nascar rear wheel into a matching insert for the BWA LMP large aluminum rim.
