Track size

Postby Czar » Sun Jan 10, 2016 8:42 am

Reading the post about re-motoring NSR's and Slot.it's I started thinking about track size and what size tracks people generally race on. Track size and configuration is the key to finding good gear ratios and proper motors, if you are so inclined. So, I have put together a poll to see if there is some way to define (for general purposes) what a "home track" is, compared to a club track or a commercial track. If you have a home track and also race elsewhere, please only vote based on the track where you do most of your racing. I have set the poll to allow three votes per person. But, only vote once for length, once for venue and once for type of track. Any comments about your track and/or table would also be helpful. Thanks for your help.

Currently rug racing at home on painted Carrera track. I own three Slot.it Classics that perform wonderfully, and have more than enough power.

No straights longer than 5".

They also will be racing on commercial tracks, notably RacingCenter Hamburg and others in my area.

Need to add my own stats. I have a painted Carrera digital track. The longest straight (of two) is 8 ft. Overall track length is right around 50 feet.

I have a permanent scaley classic track. Copper taped the slots no power taps, lane length is 47 feet with two longest straights at 7,5 feet each. The cars are a mix of scaley, ninco, spirit, fly, pro slot, slot it and nsr.

The nsr and slot it are two fast for the track. The best performers for the lay out is ninco 1, slow but with almost no deslots.

The most interesting Poll I've seen in a while. Thanks for posting it.

My road course has about 8' for longest straight. My current routed build which started out as a tri oval, but turned out as a D oval. The table top is around 23' X 6' with the edge of the D at 7', lane 4 is 51' 9" and each lane dropping in length by about 2'. The longest straight is 14' 8", but I had two 2' sections of MDF from each end that I will route and tape to add another two more feet to the track, putting the straight section at 16' 8". Whew...that's was a thought full.

My track is routed for Carrera D1XX, about 55' plus feet. My longest straight, at about 12', is not straight though. It has a hump and breaks to the left. The well tuned cars handle it with ease, the clown cars, well, they're clown cars... I have another straight, it's about 7' and has a parallel working pit lane.
