was checking the spec rules and was wondering why H&R Hawk 18k vs the Policar PMX01 rated at 25k why not stick with one motor type. from what I saw from last year proxy the pmx01 had a clear edge on the h&r motor..is there a FC-130 motor out there that would be a closer match in performance to the pmx01?

Is there merit in having 2 classes within the one series.

A class for Hawk motor and a class for the Policar PMX01 motor, that way there is no need for any parity between the cars, just the car chosen and the build.

Zack - could I please have #8, in case I don't a new car made?

Dave has a point, Zack - but as you point out, it's difficult to slice a small pie into many pieces.

Last year's top 3 cars, all ran the Policar motor - two in SW/AW configurations and one as an IL. You had to get down to the 4h place car before the Hawk motors started showing up. The rpm advantage with the Policar motor was real; even with the lower torque and with heavier, brass-chassis cars.

So, not an easy question to answer. The Production cars all sit higher than the Modifieds - just the nature of a street car vs. a purpose-built racer.

I, too, have been thinking that we will probably see a lot more Policar motors this season.

I was thinking this yesterday, and Austin suggested the same thing.

We could just make production class all Hawk, and Modified all Policar. That is still 2 classes, different spec motors.

This seems like the easiest solution to most of the problems we are discussing here, I don't want to meddle on the problem too long here as no doubt some people are already fiddling with cars.
