Here's a build I just finished, It's almost done just waiting for decals to come.
It's an odd ball body you don't often see

Anyone like to take a guess to what it is or what it started as?

What you really need to do is to make a casting of it. I'm sure the would be a group who would like them.

You are right Mr Hogan. It was a Metropolitan. A resin cast I got somewhere I don't
remember where. Not a very good casting, full of lumps and bubbles, It fought
all the way to the end. Has scratch built hood and bumpers. Color is called
Marigold from Rustoleum.
Did not turn out quite the way I envisioned it, but not to bad.

Thanks for looking
Kevin

Thanks. Coupes that's something I'm working on. It's a rebuild of an older car.
It began life as an AFX Caprice police car, then went to this
Image
Never did like that much and I needed something to work on so I took the body and sectioned
3/16 out of the center to narrow it
Image
Cut some other parts off and now it's becoming this

And that is the story behind the car in the back ground.

Thanks for asking
Kevin

KCI ,

Incedible build .

What are you using for rear axle bushings ? They look like hollow rivets .

What holds the car to the chassis ?

Do the bodies stay put durring a crash ?

What aluminum wheels are you using and do the run true on the axles ?

Thx ,
Gonzo

Thanks for looking. In answer to your questions,
The axle bushings are made from 1/8 nylon tube supports or sleeves as they are
sometimes called. In this case the axle was .059, which was too small for the hole.
I cut them off to the width of the chassis and ran a .059 drill through till the axle
fit. Drilled the chassis out .001 smaller than the od of the bushing and pressed them
in. The sleeves are made of brass and drill pretty easy. Can get them here
http://fittingsandadapters.com/tubinsleev.html

What holds the body on is just some 3m foam sticky tape, as far as them staying on
the cars I build now are mostly for show since I have no track anymore, but I have used
on ones I use to race and they stay on pretty good but for serious racing another
mounting method would be better.

The wheels are old Aj's that were laying around, use them more for looks than anything
else. The have been run and run fairly true, however the tire is a hard silicone and doesn't
lend well to bumps.

If I had a track I would not be afraid to run the car as I've many that I've run, crashed
and rebuilt over time.

Hope this answers your questions

Kevin
