I'll agree that its some very nifty craftsmanship, but Im not certain its a better mouse trap.
At a glance, the gear lash is way short between the idler and driven gears. You get this same effect when you convert the AW gear plate to metal T-jet gears, with or without journal inserts. Arm gear and idler are upside down, the relief should be used to trap ot control the sling and redirect it.
With no plate rails where does the oil sling go? Not bounced back towards the journals!
Casual observation? Steel to alloy arrangements are more thirsty and than a steel to nylatron lash up.
