New to slot cars and tracks

Postby rcheli » Tue Feb 13, 2018 2:52 pm

Pulled the trigger today. Going to extend the Infinity track by 30" into an oval for starters. Plan to expand from there and create a scale layout with greenery, buildings and such. Tips and advice is welcome.

Been flying 700 sized rc helis for 20 years with a few rc planes and an rc car or 2 mixed in. This perfect for an rc guy during bad weather days. I'm not much for video games. I like something a bit more tangible that has no reset button...

Going to start on a 3x6 table then figure where to go from there. Waiting on this to show up and a possible layout plan or 2.

Welcome rcheli, looks like you are off to a great start. The little ovals (especially high banked) can be fun.

My friend just completed his 4 lane, 26 ft long straightaways oval with high banks.
Never thought I'd max out a Mega G AFX car for that long. :)

That is pretty much what I'm thinking at this point for the ultimate goal. I'd prefer high speed on this project and figured oval would do it if the straights are long enough. Then perhaps integrate a road course portion with quick change from oval to road course. It's interesting.

I know it is almost (4) 4 x 8 sheets end to end. He was talking about putting an 'infield section' in the middle for road racing. :)

Wow. I'll start with 2.5x6' oval then stretch to 2.5x13', then figure out where to go from there.

Scratch that. I'll be starting at 2.5 x 13 foot oval.
