Mercury Cougar... time for a change!

Postby TuscoTodd » Sun Mar 26, 2017 9:23 am

After the refresh on the Dodge 330, the crew decided to tackle another of our scratched up chrome warriors - this time a Mercury Cougar!

After a little wrenching - the bumpers and glass have been removed and the body is ready to head for the "DIP" (again, household ammonia)

The crew is thinking something a little more "race oriented" for this one...
Stay tuned for more updates!

Out of the "DIP", the crew was greeted with a pristine body just asking for color!

Seeing btaylor's positive comments on the ACE "Premium Enamel" paint, combined with seeing it in the ACE flier on sale 2 for $5, it was time to experiment with a new brand!

First coat was gloss white for a base...

Next came "Sunshine Yellow"...

Have to say, I am definitely impressed with the fine the spray, flow and finished gloss this paint provided, and will definitely be using more of it in the future!
Thanks again for the heads up Bob!

More updates to follow after the yellow base coat cures!

Thank you for the heads-up on the Ace paint! Yellow paint has always been difficult for me to get good coverage and rich color. I'm looking forward to updates on this project.

Thanks,

Decals applied and some of the detail painting completed - need to let these dry / cure yet, but wanted to share an update. :D
