Jeff Albitz - The Badlands Raceway - 4-16-16

Postby TuscoTodd » Sun Apr 17, 2016 8:34 am

Had an opportunity to join a couple fellow HRW members for a race at Jeff Albitz's "The Badlands Raceway" yesterday - and to say that it was a great time would be an understatement!

Pictures of the track:

We ran three classes through the course of the evening.
First up were stock t-jets with NASCAR bodies. (the only mods to the chassis allowed were the upgrade to double flange wheels / tires with a max width of 1 1/8"

The field lined up for tech inspection... :)

First to the line was:
Red lane: Jeff Little and his white and red Pontiac
White lane: Jim Buffington and his white and blue Torino
Blue lane: my red Daytona
Yellow lane: John Egan and his red and black Torino

Rotating into the racing action on red lane through the course of the racing were the following racers:

Dave Wilson and his black Fairlane

Image

Ben Hill and his light blue Daytona

Image

Jeff Albitz and his white SPAM Torino

Image

Tom Lauterbach and his red, white and blue Fairlane

Paul Allen and his blue Yenko Chevelle

Terry Peterson (Slot Therapist) and his Wild Indian Pontiac

Tom DeLauder (gonegonzo) and his white Torino

The track with it's high speed banked corner, changing elevations, squiggle section, switch back loop and dogleg in the back stretch definitely kept everyone on their toes and made for some GREAT racing action with a number of positions coming down to just mere sections after 12 minutes of racing!

The next class to take to the track were the Super Stock T-jets!
These cars were all built to either FRAY or ECHORRS rules, where the stock chassis and a 16 ohm armature are required - but aftermarket wheels, tires, gears, bodies, etc are allowed and the width can go up to 1 5/16".

Here is the field lined up for tech inspection. :)

Looks like that was a great event! I especially like the Aurora based Thunderjet stockers and the A/FX Magna Traction cars.
Congrats to the promoter and all who participated. Enjoy! -- Ernie :>)
