Someone asked me if there would be a problem with the new Pro Series Supertires coming off the rims if you were using the 0.170 single flanged wheels and you happened to get oil on them. I tried a couple of tests, first I coated the inside of the tires with Wesson canola oil before I put them on the wheels. I suppose that, being a Car Talk fan, I should have used Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil, but I was out of that. I ran the car around my track with the usual crashes and tire cleanings for 100 laps and the tires were still up against the flanges, just like they were to start with. I cleaned off the canola oil with some lighter fluid and repeated the test with a liberal coating of Superlube, but again the tires did not move. As it happened I got some new 0.170 inch diameter wheels from JW's HO Speed Parts today that were made just for the new Supertires. They are similar to the double flanged ones from Zoomin Motorsports, but they do not have nibs. The distance between the flanges is 0.206 inches, so the flanges will not stick out further than the sidewalls of the tires on the outside. The part number of the wheels is WO4D.
