Based on the feedback to the track problem that we encountered in Round #1, we'll be running this series using a one throw-out format.
We originally had 8 races planned, due to concerns about the fragility of the Scaley F1 bodies, compared to closed-wheel cars. But, the results of the first Round showed that they're pretty tough after all. We had some pretty good offs, punts and crashes, and...…...no pieces.
In order to make a one throw-out format work, I felt that we needed to go to 10 Rounds instead of 8 and I reached out last night to some of the people who have tracks to see if we could add 2 more.
Fortunately, we have a great support community here at HRW and two more tracks materialized today; one in the US and one in Canada.
The US Round will become the new Round #2 and will be hosted by Josh (manchvegasracer) at Amoskeag North Racing Park in Manchester, NH. The Canadian Round will become new Round #9 and will be hosted by Chris (chrisguyw) at his track in Toronto. Both are routed wood tracks and will, I'm sure provide plenty of spirited racing for the contestants. We also had a third and a fourth offer today; one from Dale (aloha) in Hawaii (which is now an Australian possession - don't believe me? - just ask forum member "Camber"....) and the other from Mike (mikeinclover) at Cloverleaf Racing. It's really heartening to know that we have such great support for this series and I want to take this opportunity to thank each of the people who offered tracks to us today. :text-thankyouyellow:
I've also messaged back and forth with Todd (tuscotodd) today about scoring and he's working on integrating the one throw-out format into his reporting. It's looking promising at this point, so we should be OK with this addition to the usual scoring method.
So, we're on, gentlemen. Two more Rounds and one throw-out for this proxy series. Pick your top 9 and may the best car win!
