"Chicago Dave's" Hot Rod Racer

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Mon Oct 21, 2013 10:50 am

Dave from the Bensenville Bombers in Chicago made this car for me as a gift. I was just blown away by it as you can imagine.

He is a honor student from the "old school" slot car days and the quality and design of his builds are just amazing.

His chassis are scratch of course and the little details like the exhaust mounting are things I would have never thought of.

One thing that got my attention is the independant front wheels. I am not taking it apart to find out how, I just know they spin forever :)

Image

The kit is from Revell. The paint scheme he chose is about as perfect as it gets on a hot rod to me. Simple & effective.

Dig the pipes :)

Very cool. To say it runs smooth is needless. This car is so quiet the only noise I hear is the trigger from the controller.

Thanks Dave, you are one of the truly great builders in our hobby.

The classic SoCal car. And a very nice job on it. My tendency is to go too far and the car gets delicate and sometimes people don't want to run them because they don't want to break something. That car is a great example of a solid representation of a great old classic with just enough of the details to recall the real thing without making a glass baseball bat like I do. Very respectable effort. You're a lucky guy to have it, Harry. I bet you drag it out every time someone comes to the house!

There are a few cars that come out as soon as somebody comes down the driveway around here. Yes, Lee. Gulf colors!

Just another day in Slotterville. Just wanted to repay Harry for the fantastic hospitality he
showed us when we were there over Labor Day.

That is a perfect example of that genre of car - what a gorgeous machine! I like the chassis too.
