Which 1/24 chassis?

Postby CVGshadow » Fri Sep 13, 2013 1:04 pm

Hey guys I need some advice. I am going to build another 6 or 8 lane wood track with my high school students. Which H & R rtr chassis should I buy from the following:

http://www.professormotor.com/H-R-Racin ... -s/300.htm

I was thinking the 24000 rpm one. Track will be about 24' x 16', probably SCC non mag braid. The kids will mount 1/24 model bodies on the chassis.

Thanks, Chris

If I remember correctly, that last track was an oval, right? The shape of the track has a lot to do with motor, gear, and tire choices. Some of the guys here are a lot more into big commercial type tracks than I am, and they should advise about this, but you should have the general design of the track in mind when they advise you.

Thanks guys, it will be latex and road course. I will post a picture of the cad file we drew up. I think it is based off of an American royal (the smallest one)? Front straight is 17' feet.

I think the Royal was a banked 95 footer with black sides. There were two black tracks, the Regal 90 (no banking), and the Royal 95 (banked)... I think. Anyway, the chassis setup for either is the same.

Converting an FCR chassis for scale bodies is a lot of work. They are set-up for tiny tires, so the axle
bushings have to be relocated and soldered in. Also. it is too wide and must be narrowed to fit the
scale body. We have been using the H & R chassis since the brass Pro-Track chassis went out of
production, and have been very happy with them. They come RTR, the only thing you might have
to do is change the wheelbase using the additional holes provided in the chassis. They come with
a very simple body mounting system. You just need to decide what motor you want to use. On
Norb's oval we like the Lightning II, but the hawk is very good choice for a smaller track.
