Harry sent me this sweet little Vette yesterday. It was in great condition, just a street car version, and we don't do street cars around here! Harry knew it would be getting a mild racing makeover, and was cool with that. I hope I done him proud with this one. I started by stripping her down, removing all the little details that are post melted to the body. I then turned my attention to the way to high chassis stance that Carrera gave the car. I shaved the body mount posts, and floated the mounts. I took a bit off the bottom of the full interior to accommodate the new lower chassis position. At this point I made a new guide holder with brass insert, and installed a slotting plus guide with SCC competition braids. I also swapped out the motor for a Jaws unit, and trued all four wheels. I shaved the perimeter of the chassis to give the body room to move a bit. I also swapped out the driver head for a helmeted version. I painted the stock wheel centers in a gray to look like the period M/T or ansen style. The body received a couple of coats of Duplicolor Hawaiian bronze, and added some parts bin decals. I am making molds of the tires to make some urethanes, but the stock rubber is working ok for now. I really like this new look, and love the car in general. Thanks again Harry! never doubt that a car I get goes unused or unappreciated. this one is already racking up laps in its new home track.
