Playmate for the Cobra

Postby btaylor » Sun Jul 29, 2018 12:58 pm

Had to build one to give the Cobra a challenge!. I had this old AMT 60 vette kit under the bench, and thought I would whip up a running mate for the cobra. This one sits on a scratch built brass chassis, piranha motor, 1/8" axles, CB design wheels painted, 9/31 gear set, and a full home cast driver figure. Parma guide and braids, PM motor mount, and my own cast urethanes in shore 40 with sidewall detail, decals are hodge podge from the drawer. Good runner so far clipping off low 8's with just a little tweaking.

Yes this is a great pair. Although this whole "Big" spurt you are doing is just causing me trouble :) I am up to my bald spot in 1/32 mold work...and I keep digging in The Abyss looking at all the 1/25 kits!

I like your chassis/gear approach. The last car I built used 3/32 and the same gear as my 1/32. My next full scratch job will be the same. Only difference is I have been using the JAWS.

Well done Bob!

Thanks Harry!, I have been using up my supply of 1/8" stuff, and will be going to 3/32 axles and gears after that. The Piranha choice of motors is also based on a surplus that I had of them. the Jaws motor is a very good choice in my book, and on my track. It likes the heavier cars too. I found that throttle response was better with the jaws motor, and could be dialed in on the controller a lot better. Keep digging in the abyss! you might find one that you just cant NOT build!
