Can-Am Proxy - Round #7 - Québec QC - Circuit Courville

The race will happen tonight on Circuit Courville. The guys are coming over around 7PM and the race should start at 7:30PM.

35 cars to run, separated in 9 groups, from the slowest to the fastest (according to qualification times). 3 minutes on each lane (4 lanes total). We'll stop the race for deslots. Traditionnally for proxy races, we don't have many deslots.

The same drivers will stay on the same lane for the entire race so every car will get the exact same treatment. The track will be cleaned before the race and the tires will be swiped at the beginning of each group.

Round 7 is over and Mark (#91) is the big winner, followed closely by Old23 (#23). Smokeio (#70) came in 3rd place, after the guide was replaced after the qualification. My car (#4) took a tumble, from 4th in qual to 10th in the race.

Apart from that, there was not a lot of change between the qualification and the race. The drivers were Georges (blue), Sébastien (red), Reinis (yellow) and Mathieu (green). I was the marshall and the gopher for the race.

It was all over in less than 3 hours, with a very efficient crew, very few deslots and great software (Race Coordinator).

Congrats to the winners and all those who are satisfied with the performance of their cars. No problems to report, all cars were able to run their heats.

Congratulations, Christian and Team Quebec, on a job well done. At four lanes and 3 minutes per lane the field was thoroughly tested. The top cars proved their worth once again. Overall very tight at the top with one round to go.

Happy to see my Autocoast Ti-22 finish where it qualified.

Congratulations to the group for getting this segment run in a short time. Congratulations to the top five and podium finishers. Look at the top 10. No surprises in that group. Congratulations to you all. Maybe I'll get out of the bottom 1/3 one day. Car not fun to drive.

Georges said that if he had to pick a car for a fast lap, he would have chosen Mark's car. For a 24-hour race, he would have gone with Stewart's car. Smokeio's car was fast but a little bit less predictable.

Congrats to Mark for the race win. If he hadn't missed the first race, I think he might be leading this series.
Congrats also to Smokeio. Now that the cause of the mid-series downturn of the #70 car has been found and fixed, I expect he will finish the season on a high.

My thanks to Christian and his Quebec crew. Thanks also to George for his generous assessment of the #23 car. After an up and down first half of the schedule, my Lola seems to have found its stride in the last three races. Are Canadian tracks so different from US ones? Or maybe the car is just happy to be "home" again. :D

Whatever the cause, I hope it continues through the final round at Chappy's in Picton Ontario. I raced there once and it is a fast track with a couple of significant straights. Which car that will favor is anybody's guess, but it is certain to be an exciting finale. :auto-checkeredflag:
