Please sign me up - looks like I may be on the waiting list. Haven't decided on a car yet, but probably either a 917 or a Lola T-160. Racing #20 please, if still available. Brian/Duke7777

Seems to be up to 32 now but I would like to enter if possible, since I'll host a round of the race. Maybe on a waiting list? This would be a great opportunity to tune a Thunderslot Lola T70.

Thank you.

Allan,

I want to go with a Lola T-70 Mk II. I have the Follmer body that ran in USRRC. Not sure if this particular car/livery ran in Can Am but since the MK II did run Can Am, is that ok?

Number TBD

Well looks like the Follmer T-70 Mk II car ran in Can Am after all - I'll just have to blank out those headlights.

We've got 34 racers signed up at this point. With a cut-off at 32, I've started a Waiting List.

One of the intents of this proxy is to not turn any racers away; this is all about having fun and, generally; within the constraints of how many cars can easily be handled at any given track, the more the merrier. So, no one needs to bow out at this point so that another racer can have a slot. We will find a way to accommodate those who want to race.

I've run quite a few proxies in the past 3 years and, with only one exception, I have never seen the field equal to the number of racer that sign up. Life just happens, people get busy, emergencies crop up, priorities change, etc., etc. My rule of thumb now is that you tend to see about 85-90% of those who have signed up actually on the starting grid. So, I think the idea of a Waiting List makes sense.

In order to give people on the waiting list time to build a car; if a slot opens up, I'm going to advance the Registration Fee deadline from April 1st to March 1st. Those who pay their Registration Fee by March 1 are guaranteed a place in the field. After March 1st, those that have not paid may be replaced by Waiting List racers who do pay; based on your numerical position in the Sign-up list.

I think that this is a fair way to proceed, it gives everyone on the Sign-up list almost 2 months to get their Registration Fee paid and for Waiting List racers that go into the field, it gives you almost 2 months to build out your car, which is, generally, reasonable.

Having laid that out, the reality is that if the Waiting List stays short, then there's probably a way to get everyone running together......... But, if you want to race, then post your interest and I'll add you to the Waiting List.

I'm open to other ways to proceed, so let me hear from you if you don't think that the above is a workable approach.

Allan

Someone asked tonight about a list of cars that are eligible for this Can-Am Proxy series. I posted such a list to the thread asking if there was interest in a Can-Am race, but I'm going to re-post it here, since this is where most of the relevant information on the event is located. If the car is on the list, it's eligible. Alternatively, if there is a particular car that you're interested and you have a reliable source that states that it ran in at least one race during the '66-'74 Can-Am series, then it's legal, too.
