Can-Am Proxy Series for 2018?

Looks like a plain vanilla Ford GT-40 Mk1 to me. Here's a shot of Wietzes #94 GT-40 at Mosport in 1967.

That could be a modeling challenge, but if you're a died-in-the-wool vintage Lotus fan, then there are two Lotus's that did run Can-Am in the first season; '66. The Lotus 19 and the Lotus 23.

So, Lotus was there. Both of those cars are legal for this series.

BTW - go to the Can-Am Rules and Sign-up thread and check out the 2 links to RacingSportsCars.com. They will show you the cars that either hit the starting line or were registered for two of the '66 races; one at Mosport and one at Riverside. You'll find the Lotus's there.

Coming back to Chappyman66's comment about the Lotus 30, the Lotus 40 did run one Can-Am race; St. Jovite in 1971. Here's a pic of the 40:



I can't find that the Lotus 30 ever did run in the Can-Am from '66-'74, but it did run Riverside and Laguna Seca in '65. To me, the body of the 40 looks like the 30; if you want to run a model of the Lotus 30, then just submit it as a Lotus 40 and you'll be fine. Here's the 30:



Others may differ, but I think that the body similarity between the two cars is very high and I have no objections to it being included. Who know, perhaps a 30 did run Can-Am; I don't have time to go through all of the starting grids and entrant registrations from '66-'74. From my standpoint, it's legal for this series.

I can’t remember who said it first, but the Lotus 40 is the same car as the Lotus 30 with 10 more problems. Distinguishing difference is the exhaust path, other then that they are externally the same.

For me this makes the decision so hard as to what car to send. I really like the looks of the Lotus, but have the Ferrari 350 all ready to go.

And as others have mentioned, the Ford G7 ran Mosport in 1969 with Peter Revson aboard:

No one else has signed up for a McKee Mk10 yet, so, yes, that would be a great car to have in the field! I'll put that down for you. Good luck with your build. BTW: Chris Walker posted up a nice Mk10 that he had done a few years back, he would likely be a very good source of tuning hints for that car.
