had the idea of drilling a hole, too, but Rolands method is way easier.
gear slip seems to be a major problem on the china gears. maybe caused by material?
gear slipped on the Lotus Exige that i´m building right now and also on the 356 Porsche. Porsche even got a mild motor (boxer) and long gearing, gear slipped anyhow. fixed with slots in axle and gear, copper wire and CA glue. i do not know if i will be able to remove that axle again. cutting the gear off will be the only solution maybe.

new controllers with brakes? great addition to the actual driving i guess!
i had to repair the cable on my 45 ohm Parma Eco controller yesterday. Cables seem the only weak point on them. but it´s an easy change/repair.

i did a little tuning work on the vac-formed Exige yesterday, making the gears run smooth and a little trueing of the rear tires. it runs really nice, looking forward to run it under race conditions when the grip level rises to that insane level where all those little inaccuracies start to show that you will never find in cruising mode on a little dusty track.

painted driver head and tray for the 356 Porsche.
waiting for the wheel insert to arrive, than it can be finished. chassis will need a little weight, due to the narrow track it has a tendency to barrel roll when goint into the corners too fast.

searching for the right wheel inserts for the Rambler Marlin, in some way the wheels do not look correct on this car. will try inserts ...

and the vac-formed Chevrolet Astro needed new tires on the rear, one old one melted away.
also played around with the setup of the car.
the wheel base is really short and the distance from the guide to the front axle is short, too.
in combination with no weight at all, the short gearing gave it a very tricky driving.
i ended up with adding weight, fishing tackle putty, 5g on each side of the motor, a total of 10g. Driving was better, but still not totally right. unplugged the brakes - this did the trick.
now it´s fun to run it aroung the track. did not time it, but now it is fun to run.
maybe will do the same to the Rambler.

the Rambler has the most "complicated" front axle i built by now. Wheel, spacer, bearing, distance piece to hold the bearings, bearing, spacer, wheel.
but it runs nice now.
added 20g of thungsten fishing tackle on the sides of the motor. runs nice and smooth with the very light vac-formed body now.

also got some wheel inserts, i think they are quite nice, not perfect, but nice.

Chrome? the Molotow chrome is sooooo shiny! i´m not totally sure how it will fit with more or less flat silver of the printed wheels.

wheel inserts for the 356 Porsche arrived today. painted them silver, now ready to install.
outer diameter is 7.6mm, so in real life, this insert is only a tenth of the screen size you are looking at right now!

Nice wheels. Molotow make a chrome spray paint called Burner 600. It dries duller then their chrome pens, but might work well for wheels. I use it as silver paint on cars.

This Porsche was painted with it
