Thanks Peter, this was just something I wanted to try to see if it's even possible to build.
Came out lot better than I would have expected, like I said the miniguide is brilliant with this car.
The brass bearing should have been longer in the rear so that they would been in touch with the wheels.
Little axle play in both ways now but works like that too.

Motor is small 10 mm x 10 mm square 6 pole, little smaller than Barc motor and much better than any N20 motors that I have tried.

Dan warned that he had burnt bunch of these with 12V, I haven't yet but I haven't tried these that lot.
Alpine A310 that was in Little Monte Rally is equipped with one of these and it still runs.

this Great Dane came from a friend in germany. it is printed in 3D. personally i think the printing quality is really great.
so great in fact, that i had to look out for the printer itself ...

The surface seems to be as rough as on the Shapeways chassis, ist it ?

Roland

As to the motors - I tried these too, but must say my N 20 are better. Not only because they have carbon brushes.
The Minebea have metal brushes and this is more or less a big disadvantage, depending on how they are run - which voltage, how long, which total weight of the car, what gear ratio.
But I am sure that as usual the individual experiences will vary.
I use these motors as spare motors for N scale railway locos now and there they work really well.

Roland, the surface is more smooth than the one from shapeways.
also you could not print the great dane on shapeways due to their "design guidelines" - i think mainly due the problem the parts will break while packaging.
the printed surface of Boro´s chassis is way more smooth than the one from shapeways. while shapeways WSF (the white strong and flexible material, now named versatile plastic) has an open structure, the materials seems to have a closed structure.

have you got a link to the N20 motors you use?

Cleared, Peter. Thanks !

No, I don´t have a special link because I had been searching for a long time at EBAY, searching for "N20 DC Motor", checking the offered specs for their applicability for my own purposes, bought three, checked these incl. disassembling, counting the no. of turns, timing, brushes, measuring the resistance etc. and since they were just what I wanted I bought 50 of them.

Now I take one of them, open it, replace the arm by one of another series that run on more volts, reassemble it, glue an adaptor from 1 to 1.5 mm dia. on the shaft and so I have exactly what I need and imagine.

Sometimes I rewind an arm.

You know one of my principles is realistic comparability of all my cars.
And just like with the 1:1 cars one rule for that is the engine. All race series have clear and restricted engine rules. So my slotcars have this as well. And my development work concentrates on technical aspects, because the motors are identical.

It took me years to search and buy a big number of different motors to find the right one.

The Chinese who sold me my motors isn´t to be found anymore. The shop was suddenly closed and never reopened. Thank goodness I had bought enough motors for the rest of my hobby life. :-)

Regards,

Roland

I forgot - I like Dusan´s dog very much !

Nice work Aki!

I have 2 of those FIAT 500s and wonder if I can get them working as well as the 1/32 NSR versions! Ha, maybe not, but complete laps would be nice!

Regards, Lloyd.

a little work on the Fiats and they will run better than the NSRs, Lloyd ;-)

nice work on the Skodas Aki!

i'm fighting with my 3D printer to get the first prints out of it. quite a steep learning curve with this thing.
