Randy,

Awesome job! Thanks for posting the information. I am not much of a fan of the Turbo button either.

Best regards,
Brian

I do have a question about the way this operates.

Typically you get brakes by applying a short across the input of the motor. Basically this converts the motor to a generator.

I was wondering if you have an amp gauge on you power source.

If you do I think you will notice a large increase in the power that is flowing as if you are shorting across the motor with power applied, you are also shorting out the output of your power supply.

If you are using wall-worts, then there is not enough power to cause issues. But if you had a 10 amp power supply I think you would see your controller smoking.

Just my opinion of course.

Thanks guys.

Marty, Thanks for the heads up on the power draw. This was primarily intended to restore full control to the plunger. The brakes were just an added extra. I am using wall-warts with the stock power connection track, which is what this mod is intended for. The little bit of use that I have had since doing this mod has me considering going into the controller and removing the lock on the turbo button so that it can be applied with the plunger released thereby creating a traditional braking system. Speaking personally if I was installing a larger power supply I would also be springing for better controllers and power connection system.

Thanks Again

After more than a week of use I am not satisfied with the braking capabilities of the Go controller.
1. I am not coordinated enough to run both buttons effectively in a sub 4sec lap
(ie.release power, apply brake, release brake, apply power)
2. As the button is the ergonomic position for the index finger, the brakes tend to be applied accidentally.
3. With the huge current draw that the brakes application creates and the low amperage of the go power
supply system a brake application stops both cars.

I believe that a Parma 45 would correct the first 2 issues but with the low amperage of the go system will it correct the third issue? Or have I missed something?

Yes, the parma will shortcut the rails and not the power supply. You will only have to operate with one finger

For analog we use nothing but Parma. D143/D132 is not as "complicated".
