2017 Kleskun Hills Proxy Fun Run

Well the track survived the move out of the basement crawlspace and into a proper room. Knowing that it has survived the move and is functioning normally I feel I can invite people to enter the 2017 Kleskun Hills fun run.

Participation in Proxy racing for 143 scale is the goal and as such the rules are very simple to allow anyone to enter.

Three things

No added magnets for traction

Front wheels must touch the ground

Urethane or rubber tires must be used

Obviously this is for 1/43 scale cars or cars that were marketed as 1/43 scale. I am not going to bring out the ruler, so lets just say the cars should be 143ish in scale. Cars with guide flags run better then the ones with guide pins on my track.
As I am running steel rails, some cars will have an advantage with some magnatraction that is inherent in some motor and chassis layouts. Cars that exhibit this traction will be classified as Inherent magnetic traction cars and will be classified separately for the true non magnet cars.

Again this is for fun, but I will be offering urethane tires, or resin bodies or some 12 volt small can motors for those that enter. If anyone wants to help with prizes that would be great. I will be sure to include "commercials" in my video presentation to help spread the news and thanks for products that might be donated.

That is it for rules. Cost to enter is nothing except you are responsible to get your cars to the track and back home again. For European entrants it would make sense to have some trusted individual collect all entries and then ship them as one package to Canada to save on shipping. Of course you can mail them directly to me as well.

The race is 50 laps and every car entered will have a qualifying run and participate in the race. Fastest over all time to run the 50 laps will determine the winner.

Please respond to this thread if you are interested in participating to give me an idea of how many cars I may expect. last year I did a lot of video as I only had about 10 entries. More entries will require a much bigger commitment of my time, so it would be kind of nice to know what I am setting myself up for time wise.

Proxy racing can be a lot of fun especially if you are building your own cars, but tuning stock chassis is a lot of fun as well. Add some purpose to your time on the bench and send in a car to participate in the second running of this race. I believe the people who participated last year had some fun watching the video action of their cars competing in the first ever race last year.

Hi Dan!

great to hear that the track survived the move in good condition!
I´m in with 2 cars (maybe 3, depending on how many entries you get).
Already excited about the race, your race coverage last year has been awesome!

thanks,
Peter

Thanks to all who have cars on the way. If you have been procrastinating, stop and get after it. You still have time to get a car entered into this fun run.

Hi Dan, since the entry form allows two cars only but the rules say max. three cars, I want to enter a third one here.

And - I don´t use slide guides, I use adpted jet flag types or my own ones. But I think "slide guides is only a synonym for all flag guides, isn´t it ?

Regards,

Roland

Hi Roland

It would be great to drive your cars at Kleskun Hills. 3 cars is fine. Two is in the future when 30 cars start to show up :D

Yes I probably incorrectly use the term "Slide Guide" to refer to all things with a rotating blade

Thank you, Dan.

One of the cars is rtr, the second gets a faster motor and the third is just on the bench.

I did up a small decal that could be applied to the cars that enter the fun run

Image

Note this is the graphic image enlarged. I neglected to save the actual artwork. This Decal is tiny and could be placed on a lower fender, but I understand people may not want to see a decal on their car. So it is up to you.

Yes I found Austria was the most expensive post when I was returning last years Cars. From Canada I can ship cars pretty much anywhere for around $15 if I use small package air. Austria was like $40 and was by far the most expensive.

Maybe one day I can look at Running the Kleskun Hills fun run a couple of months after the Pronomag. That way you would have all the cars and you could just ship one big box, get it tracked and share the expense over all the cars in the box.

I have been running a lot of 132 proxies in NA. Tracked shipping with $100 insurance is $16.00. Much more reasonable. When you have to start paying $40 just to ship cars it kind of takes the fun out of it.

I hope you find some method that is reasonable.
