Nerf, i´ve seen H0 tracks made out of plexi, it seems that it grips really well. But maybe white plexiglass and use hard tires on it may give you the right feeling.
or use MDF with flat latex and run with plastic wheels :D

I have a couple older Scalextric Mercedes CLK Le Mans prototype cars from the 24 LeMans set that have dried out / hard tires that make running them (without magnets) just like that - definitely good entertainment!
Wonder if something like slot.it zero grips on the rear wouldn't give you the same effect?
Growing up in the snow belt, I have always had fun with a snow base and RWD...
