posting a picture already works, i see we still have to work on the avatar ...
there is a button "user controll panel" on the left upper top, this if the first step. Then you need to click on "profile" and search for "edit avatar"
if you need to resize a picture, i can only add the free "irfanview" to list of programms that can do such things. irfanview is what i´m using to edit my pictures, resize, crop, change colors, add a text, it can do nearly everything i need, plus - it´s free.

Thank you Peter I am deciding on what picture to use as my avatar and this outdated iMac G4 probably won't allow me to get irfanview but I'll see about that later today.

oh, irfanview is only for PC, don´t know how apple handles this ...

That's ok I can run some PC stuff but this G4 is a outmode there is no upgrade stuff for it anymore but I got it for free so no crying from me about it.
