Well, holy moly, we're ready to race again - this time in Auckland!

Keeping track of the races has been a little difficult; particularly given the 2 month "lost in the mail" hiatus, but here's where we are now; in terms of Rounds:

1. River Run - MA (Audi1)
2. Cornerstone - MA (mether05)
3. River Hills - PA (cobratroy)
4. Shamrock Test Track (gmsea)
5. The 1953 (slotting since 1953)
6. The Rhino River Raceway (slotting since 1953)
7. The Anaconda (munter)
8. The Black Widow Raceway (crockettNZ)
9. Orakei Raceway (drw21)

I've messaged Todd and he'll be updating the scoring for the races that we've had, plus the one that Dave will run in Auckland.

Then they'll be headed back to North America to finish up the series.

So, the next race is Round #9!

Sorry for this little bit of news Guys but as far as race day goes it may be a little while before we get to run these cars due to NZ's biggest RTR event coming up in less than 2 weeks, the NSR Classic Challenge where so many of the countries RTR racers flock to Nelson for the annual 'pilgrimige' for a huge fun event.
This will put a delay on when we get to run the Ford vs Porsche cars but not for too long as we all want to keep the series alive.
I'll keep ya posted with updates.
Cheers Guys - Dave.

Not to worry, Dave. You guys down under have really put the quick-step back into this proxy by running two Rounds for us in almost as many weeks, which has been great! :text-bravo:

We'll all be here when you get time to run the cars - just don't appropriate any of them for this big NSR Classic Challenge event....................... or, if you do, then at least make sure that they're in "as was" condition before they hit the starting grid at the Orakei Raceway! Haha!

A big box of slotties (I hope its full of slotties) turned up.
I will sort a date with Mike Orakieracer and let you all know when we get to qualify them.
But before that I will open the box, check for any damage in case they got bumped about and give them a clean if needed.
Cheers guys - Dave.

Hi Guys.
To keep the momentum and interest going, Dave and myself decided to run the qualifying today. The actual race will be delayed a couple of weeks as we are tied up next weekend at NZ's NSR Challenge.
Times and comments are below. Rubber tires have a bit of an advantage over urethanes on our track, and a number of cars did not like our hair pin with the sudden drop in gradient but the well setup cars handled the track nicely. Alot of close times but the race will be a different ball game with the easy driving cars expected to go well, but the rest will struggle as our track is not forgiving. Dave will keep you posted on race day date.

Thanks guys for the "all the best" for the NSR race, it will be a blast.

Thank You guys for letting us run these cars.

Allan, is it OK for me to repair the J car, the windows have come loose and are floating, I'd like to glue them back in place if the rules allow this.
It is not having any real effect on the car as yet but it may do if it comes totally loose and flops around.

The track was washed clean before we qualified them, I split the cars into two groups, rubber tired cars in one group and urethane and silicone tired cars in the other.
We ran the rubber tired cars first at random order, washed the track again and then ran the rest of the cars also in a random order.

This way no car had a dirty or dusty track to contend with, ie the rubber tires didn't have to deal with the dust from the urethanes or the silicones pulling up the rubber from the track.

As Mike said, the rubber tires do run better on this surface, they always have.
My theory as to why is they are softer than the urethane tires and when cornering they hold better because of it.
That is just a theory as we normally use soft rubber tires form most of the cars we race.
We do have a class of old school Trans Am cars where most cars do use urethane tires but the quickest we have them running is around 5.0 seconds using 16k to 18k motors.
We mainly use urethane tires for these cars to keep them consistent over each lane and during the race.

We will get to race day as soon as we can after we get back from 'the big one' next weekend.

There were some really great running cars in this bunch,
#23 Porsche is a great runner, awesome handling car with that very cool custom chassis, hats off to the builder of that one.
#70 stands out also stands out for being the best car to drive using urethanes.

Other cars have some simple issues hindering performance, things like tires coming loose off the rim while cornering, front and or rear tires not running true and bodies rubbing on tires as it tilts during cornering. These simple things can and do have a huge effect on how the car runs on the track.

Thanks again Guys, I'll keep ya posted when race day is on - Dave.

Hi Dave, Go ahead and make the repairs to the J-car - no penalties for parts that come loose as a result of racing and that can be re-fastened without changing the performance of the car.

Also, is the #70 on urethanes or rubber?

Interesting that you ran the rubber cars and then the urethane cars for the qualy. An interesting experiment would be to qualy them again randomly, to see if it made any difference in the standings; thereby either confirming or not the observation reported by many that rubber tired cars will pick up urethane dust and, therefore, loose traction; be slower.

There are no silicone tires in this proxy; it's rubber / urethane only.

Sound like you guys are doing a great job for us. Good luck at the NSR event!
