Allan, Todd did a real nice job and beat me to it,
I was out raking leaves, then picked up all the cars that were out and lowered the benchwork modules by a little over a foot, lot better, they were train tables before...

Lookin forward to seeing the updated stats Monday, get rid of that jetlag!

Hi Guys, Thanks Allan for getting this all under way and congrats to Smokeio.
My tire info is..........
I am using NSR supergrips, 5212's, they are lightly treated. You can use NSR tyre oil.
Guys usually really 'soak' them and get them to swell up but I only use a light dose in case the glue lets go.
Doing this makes them last longer and stick well, great for proxy racing.
Good luck to ALL.

Following up on FC47's idea, here's where the marques stand, in terms of top-10 starting grid positions:

1. Ford
2. Ford
3. Porsche
4. Porsche
5. Porsche
6. Ford
7. Ford
8. Ford
9. Ford
10. Porsche

Image

So, 6 Fords and 4 Porsches; pretty close to even.

I think I heard the ghost of Henry Ford, II saying: "they're running overhead cams; well everyone knows they're not worth a plug nickel in terms of dependability". And then I thought I could also hear the ghost of Dr. Ferry Porsche saying: "there is a replacement for displacement". So, we'll see who's on top at the end of tomorrow's race....................

You are killing me!!! I already didn't get any sleep as I was checking for results every hour. Now I have to wait until after work. Oh the suspense, did the 70 win? Did the 211 drive around the outside for the win? Did the urethane cars find traction and come from behind? Did a Porsche beat a Ford? Did the 23 move up on a long run versus qualifying

"Oh the suspense, did the 70 win? Did the 211 drive around the outside for the win? Did the urethane cars find traction and come from behind? Did a Porsche beat a Ford?"

I was helping out at Allen's last night and, having entered a few proxies in the past and having known how the suspense kills, I thought I'd decrease the frustration by adding a couple of comments. First, the competition was intense, so intense that there was smoke off the lanes and quite a few surprises. Eeeeooooooo.....it was hot competition. Was it hot enough?

Well, maybe I should be fair and leave it to Allan to fill you guys in.

Thanks Bob! And here it is...............

We had a great night of racing! Lots of fun, a few chuckles, and some very close competition at several different levels within the starting grid; races within races.

We ran 39 3-minute heats with the drivers staying in their lanes throughout the race. The drivers were Matt (changing geaz), Bob (Slot Car Corner) and Jeff (dge476). Bob (rleog) and I marshalled the cars, ran the computer and got the cars to and from the track. The track was cleaned before the race and tack clothed just before the start. Each car had their tires swiped on a sticky pad before entering the track in the red lane. All cars ran the lane sequence: red / white / blue. The race was judged based on total distance traveled in 10th's of a lap. In case of a tie, fastest lap determined the position of the cars.

It was racing under the lights:

Image

We saw some significant changes in the finishing order, versus the qualifying order, as those cars that were easier to drive and that could be pushed harder in the corners without deslotting, tended to fare better in the overall standings.

There was quite a bit of on-track pressure; both teams brought their A-Games!

Ford was aggressive; even unto it's own........

Image

Porsche tried to muscle the Fords at several points in the race.............

Image

Fords' racing orders were clear; if it's moving too slow, then move it off the track.................

Image

And when the tire smoke cleared, here's how it looked on the leaderboard:

Position / Car Number / Builder / Total Laps / Fastest Lap Tiebreaker

1. / 21 / drw21 / 89.5
2. / 23g / kidvoltage / 88.7
3. / 70 / smokeio /88.1
4. / 133 / orakeiracer / 86.3
5. / 27 / radarek / 86.2

8. / 505 / ckouba / 84.5
9. / 211 / orakeiracer / 84.4
10. / 54 / yebo / 80.7

38. / 30 / glasshorsev h/ 56.3

And your podium:

Image

Fastest laps in each lane went to the following cars:

Red - 5.718 sec / #21
White - 5.776 / #70
Blue - 5.729 / #21

We also had a post-race concourse event. Here are the concourse results:

1. #5 / aloha
2. #74 / clivearmstrong
3. #25 / docdoom

Here they are:

And that's all she wrote from the River Run. Henry Ford II was definitely smiling from above; Ford having sandwiched Porsche with the #1 and #3 finishing positions............

The cars go next to Bob Methe for Round #2 at Cornerstone Raceway. I'll get them packed up and in the mail to him this week. Bob always runs a great Round, so stay tuned for more action as this Round was probably a mere shake-out for the racing to come.........!
