Ford-Porsche Wars Proxy - Rules & Registration

Hi Allan

With this many cars entered, can you confirm that host's will have to 1) complete the event on the same day 2) the order for racing, will it be by discretion of host, car number or qualifying 3) is there a minimum/maximum race time for each car at each event 4) will each car be driven by each driver for an equal amount of time?

Asking because hosting a proxy with this many cars (if they all show up) will be time consuming and hosts might time out on the event on the same day, which could impact the performance of the cars, the track conditions and the availability of the same drivers. E.g. track grip could be very different for car 46 if cars 1 through 45 - each race 8 mins prior!

That actually sounds like a cool idea, Porsche one day, Ford the next, Top 5 of each side go to a final round to determine a winner. ( My vote is YEAH). :auto-driving: :banana-dance:

the way we normally run proxy's here are the cars have qualifying one day
and then the big race in the next fews days after that
and then they race in groups of 3 or 4 depending on how many lanes the track being used has
each group will run all heats for their race at once
starting with the slowest qualifiers working up to the fastest qualifiers
that makes it easier to get track
we have the same driver on the same lane for all cars and use the track owner and best drivers that are available on the day
one guy focused on putting all the data in the computer and 1-2 guys focused on getting the right cars on track and in the right lanes
plus the right lane sticker as well as cleaning the tires with the sticky tape board
as for the time each heat length will be will depend on how many cars there ends up being

That qualifying/racing format will be fine for this series, CrockettNZ. It's very similar to what other hosts will do.

That's how we run proxies here in the Portland area. If we have a proxy with multiple classes we may switch drivers between classes, provided we have enough people, which we usually do. If any of us are participating in a particular class of a proxy, they will typically marshal during that class, again providing we have enough other drivers.

Minimum clearance 1.2mm

Does this measurement include the crown gear? [Apologies if this was asked before, in some proxies the rule is without the gear, others not]

Hi Chris,

No, crowns and spurs can be lower; as long as they don't represent a physical threat to any of the tracks that we run on. The 1.2mm is the minimum clearance on the underside of the chassis or on any weight that is attached to the bottom of the chassis.

I should add that we would prefer all weight to be above the bottom of the chassis (inside the car), since external weight, in some cases, tends to come off during a long proxy series and can cause damage to both the host tracks and the other cars.
