True enough............Around here in the 70's & 80's guys were using bodies from Corvettes to Nash Ramblers.
If I had this build to do over, I would have also narrowed the body maybe just 1/8 - 1/16, 'cus it's just a "little" wide.
But it worked out reasonably well......On to the next project.

Reasonably well is a huge understatement I don't know how you visualize where to chop and dice to get your final body! Here is the east by the time the 80's rolled around they ditched the stock bodies for the slab sided monstrosities that we have today. I blame Kenny Weld and the batmobile.........

Well done Brew. I bet you have people going through their parts boxes now to see what they can cobble up from old bits and pieces. Like you i never throw anything out, unfprtunately it comes to lumber as well. If its over 12 inches kts a keeper lol.
Very nice build sir you are the King of the ring in this category

A mighty fine conversion and paint job to get to this and I'm liking the number on the side too.

As far as I'm concerned going away from stock based bodies killed modified racing in the northeast. The slab sheet bodies created more downforce which put more dependance on horsepower and tires and also turned tracks into dry slick dustbowls.
