CARacing -1968 Karmann Ghia

Share your build process step by step
Forum rules
Open to ALL SCALES!

1. Pictures of your starting materials. Choice of body, Chassis type and material (brass, plastic etc.)
2. Pictures of the tools you will be using, and any alternative ways to do the same thing. for example, tubing bender versus bent around a screwdriver handle. etc.
3. List where parts come from, or where they can be purchased from, or if they are homemade.
4. As many pictures of the build during the whole process as you can.

Love it when everyone gets all excited and ready to build. Thanx Dan, my Pontiac Firebird is in the post for the Transam proxy - so now I can start with the NEW project...keep watching!

So the build started this weekend.
Materials I like to use ... whatever I have in the work shop. I will first use whatever I have, before buying.
Block of wood (I prefer the harder wood as it keeps the detail better ... it is more difficult to work by hand )
Needle files, rough and smooth
Measuring utensils, pencil...etc

years ago when I ran in IHRA hot rod class,a guy had a white one called BAD TAZ in stock class.i saw him win many races.

Hey Clive, would it help you if I take specific shots of my K-G for you? Its a '73 ex-racer with Empi wheels and Perrelli P-7s. I'll roll it out of the barn and take any shots you want.

Thanx very much for the offer! The blue prints and photos I have, are good. The hand work is where the problem comes in...small subtle curves can not be put back if you sanded them too far...time consuming.
