Did some detail work on the super mod. Driver is in, his body is
from the Grand Prix racer and his head is a Tyco piece from the
parts box. Repainted his face and goggles and left the helmet alone.

Test fitted the body before paint, and it needed some work to fit right. I
guess all the paint and primer took up all the extra space. Got a little tight
in there. With that done the body fits good now, a little tight but workable.

Driver fits good. He fills the cockpit and sits high in the car which is what
I was looking for. He needs a little touch up but thats all.

Headers and injectors are painted and ready to be detailed.
Getting closer.

All for now

The process of finishing up the Super Mod started off well. Shot two coats of paint, after drying put a
thin coat of clear. Applied the decals and set them. When it came to the last coats of clear things went
downhill. The clear clouded and wrinkled in spots. Let it dry and tried to save it by wet sanding the body
with 2000 gently as to not sand the decals off, but it was in vain. After sanding I shot some clear over it
and hoped for the best. At this point I'm not going to strip the car and start over, I'm just going to say that
the car has a bunch of clay dust on it from time trials on the track.

Color is Duplicolor Forrest Green Pearl, the clear was also Duplicolor so all paint was matched
what happened I cant say. Maybe the clear was bad.
Decals are from Polecat Decals. I like the body lines of the car and the way that it sits, meets
the criteria of the old super modifieds.
Maybe someday I'll strip it and repaint it but till that day it will stay as it is.
It just has a little track dust on it.

All for now

Just came across this older post. WOW what a nice build. All the time that was put into it. Hoping it is still running great.
