According to the rules, the long can motor is perfectly legal. There were a number of FK-180 motors on the list David has on the rules page (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=15340). The subject of motor magnetics came up last year and it was said that the majority of venues were wood and it would make very little difference and was put to bed. That said I'm thinking that next year Tiny Alice may need to be running a 3D chassis and long can like everyone else will (or maybe just defend our position at the back with an FC and brass..... not front motored though).

Agree, the torque and braking on most 180's would make them the choice if running in front is one of your goals. The simple manufacturers 18K rule has a lot of wiggle room I am learning. With some motors turning 22 k and torque ranges from 80- 250 gms/cm

However, after the first race you can get an idea of what cars you are actually racing against, and just have fun watching how your car does against the other similar cars. This TA proxy has a lot of cars and there can be many races within the race itself, and unless the proxy is run using one specific motor, you are going to get motor performances all over the map.

The magnet marshall data was very interesting to see as it is also measuring the grunt of each motor in the field. Even on a wood track the extra grunt means quicker acceleration to the 18K limit.
Cheers

All the cars are now here, warming up the room. Recleaning the track, looking like a little snow today.

Find the waiting between races to be hard. Hoping today will be a better finish, still so much to learn. Here is a photo of Riverside that I had layed outed on a 8' x 4' table in my shop, have to do some compressing to get it to fit the 4 foot. Could we please see a photo of your track.

Sorry maybe I missed it but I was looking for the #12 and just realized there are two #3 cars. Please make the yellow BMW 2002 #3 number #333 going forward to limit confusion. Just write on the # sticker with a pen. Thanks for the qualifying run and I look forward to seeing the race results as we have a lot of cars that can make a comeback from the bottom of the qualifiying results.

Austin,
Surprised you state the guide is too long in the #77 Challenger. Same guide as last year. Trim as needed. Shocked to see the SCX 42B motored Cuda at 11th. Shazam!!!!! Hope it races well.
I believe you are on Scaley Sport right?

Ok great. I am surprised to see that small can motor in that thing is not that far behind the Scalextrics Camaro I sent in.

Thanks for everything. This is a big event, and the logistics of keeping track must be quite the chore.

Looking forward to the race
