TransAm Proxy - Round #2 The River Run

Thanks guys for running round #2 and congrats to the podium winners in both classes.
I have to ask, in the rules it states that all tracks will be run at 12Volts,why the need to run at 10V?,do you think results would have being different if round #2 was run at 12V

Hi Yebo, 10V gets the maximum performance (fastest lap times) out of the cars that we run here at The River Run; those that have motor limitations in the up to 22k rpm manufacturer's stated range. For motors with more rpms than that; we are not sure if 12V would make a difference or not, but we will investigate that further if and when the situation arises. The fastest lap recorded at my track belongs to Smokeio with a 5.520; an NSR Ford GT-40 powered by a 22k NSR motor, run at 10V.

Your comment is likely based on this year's Round #5 Group 5 North American proxy results, over on the SCI board. For that race, there are several cars that have motors in the 30k rpm manufacturer's stated range (including my own). So, that does bear checking out.

But, for cars with motor limits in the 18k range, which this proxy has, there has been no difference in lap times observed at 10V vs. 12V; the cars are simply more drivable at 10V.

I think this is a fun run and you have to just accept that fact. My U2 Porsche really suffers at 10 volts as the motor is only a 15 k@ 12 volts. Any advantage it may have had by this fact is eliminated when the voltage for the other motors is turned down to make those cars more drivable.

The fact that the motors are not being scoped means that there is a large discrepancy in what is being run, and we probably have cars with motors turning anywhere from 15 to 22 K. Everyone of these will have their sweet voltage at each particuliar track. Turning the voltage down will help some but not others. Oh well that is what happens when you are running different motors.Again this is a fun run, and who wins or loses is irrelevant. If we start getting too Techy then the fun will start to evaporate IMO. Personally I would love to see the track voltage at 17 volts!!!
