La Carrera Panamericana-2 - The Tracks

It's still early days, but I thought it might help the builders to get an idea of the tracks that these cars will be running on.

I'll put up some pics and specs for each of the tracks as soon as I get the info from the hosts.

Please not that there's a chance of running these cars on more than one track at each host location. For example, in South Afriica, last year's cars also ran on The 1953 and the Marlboro Mile; in Ohio, last year's cars also ran on the Tri-Oval and the Drag Strip, etc.

We'll be adding to this list as more tracks become available.

We have 11 host locations and some with more than one track, so the locations are now set for the 2016 series. Thanks to all of the hosts. A schedule will be developed shortly that minimizes shipping distances and costs.

Thanks for the pics and description of your track, Dave. The surface is so smooth that it makes it look like you're racing on glass! We're already looking forward to the rounds in New Zealand. Better get those NZ stickers ready for this next crop of cars! :lol:

Hi Guys, yup, we'll be doing the NZ sticker thing again, looking forward to doing the 'down under decal' on these well traveled cars.
This time they will be more to scale, they may even be specially made for the job.
Certainly a great fun run for all. Reminds me a bit of the movie 'the great race' from the 60's with such an huge cross section of different cars but that adds to the fun for sure.

This is Thunder Road, named after highway US 11/70, Kingston Pike, that runs in front of my house. It's mentioned in the song and movie by the same name,

"Roaring out of Harlan, revvin' up his mill
He shot the gap at Cumberland and screamed by Maynardville
With G-men on his taillight, roadblocks up ahead
The mountain boy took roads that even angels fear to thread

Blazin' right through Knoxville out on Kingston Pike

I may even have some scenery paint on by then.

And here is Lake on the Mountain. 90 feet 3 lane mdf routed copper tape runs at 10.5 volts.
Its where we ran the PanAm cars and about to run the CanAm cars. Surface is Latex grey

We don't have gascarnut in the field.........yet, but we do have an offer from Dennis to run a round of this proxy, which is great news!

We're up to 10 host locations now, with more than one track being a very real possibility at several of them. So, racing-wise, we're at 14-15 rounds right now and I think that's probably where we'll leave it.

Rossko (GAS41T) has just offered up a couple of nice tracks in Australia, so at this point, with 11 locations and some with multiple tracks, we're set for the 2016 La Carrera Panamericana series.

Here's how the schedule is shaping up, as far as target dates for hosting the various rounds:

4. tuscotodd / UK Black, Marks' Model World - Ohio, USA - mid-February (could be 2 tracks)
5. slotting since 1853 / The Rhino River Raceway - Bloemfontein, RSA - end- March (could be 2-3 tracks)
6. munter / The Andconda - New Zealand - end-April
7. DRW21 / The Orakei Raceawy - Auckland, NZ - mid-May (could be 2 tracks)
8 . gas41t / 132 World - Sydney, Australia - mid-June ( could be two tracks)
9. gascarnut / Pebblestone Miniature Car Circuit - CA, USA - mid-July
10. retroracer44 / Luf's Big Targa - Vancouver, BC - mid-August (could be 2 tracks)
11. chappy / Lake on the Mountain - Ontario, CA - mid- September

Cars would then be returned to MA and shipped out to the entrants in mid-October; essentially a year from the start of the series. If we can gain any time at any of the host tracks, then that would be good, but we won't know if that's possible until we get started.

Let me know if these target dates work for each of the hosts.
