It's time to start up the La Carrera Panamericana 2 Fun Run for 2016!
We're going to keep the rules, essentially, the same as they were for last year's race, because they allow for a lot of flexibility in the design and building of these cars. The basic idea is that this race is for any 1949-1960 car that ran in that Mexican road race; Detroit iron, European sedans/coupes, and sports cars. Your hosts for this second season are Bob Taylor (btaylor), Sarge (tsgtret) and me. Between the three of us, we'll do out best to bring you the best in fun run racing from around the world with theses great cars.
Here are this year's rules:
Body: Resin or plastic body, tray interior minimum, stock or vac-formed glass
Chassis: any material, RTR or custom, no magnets
Motors: NC1/BWNC1/MT1/MT SL1/NC8/H&R Jack Rabbit
Wheels: period inserts required on all wheels that do not have a reasonable period look
Tires: rubber or urethane
Numbers: unique numbers for all cars; no duplicates (makes it much easier on the track hosts)
Liveries: original replicas or fantasy and anything in between
Target due date for having your car(s) at the first round location (The River Run, Merimac, MA) is November 15, 2016.
Cost: $15.00 per car to help cover the cost of shipping (these cars will be going around the world again, just like last year).
Limit: 2 cars per entrant
Links to all of the cars that ran in the La Carrera Panamericana race; 1950-1956, will be posted soon, so that you can choose your entries.
A list of tracks will also be published well in advance of the due date and a registration thread will be started later this week.
The Panamericana cars from last year's race should be back with their builders by the end of this month, so whether you decide to spruce-up/repower your 2015 entry or go with an all-new build for 2016, you should have plenty of time to get your car(s) ready.
Input is welcome.
