1949 Mercury NASCAR

Postby waaytoomuchintothis » Thu Nov 15, 2012 3:59 pm

This is a Smiling Ray's (http://smilinrays.webs.com/slotcarbodies.htm), resin body I've had a while. Its pretty straightforward, I only pulled the exhausts from a Carrera Vintage NASCAR chassis and cut them off square, drilled them out and remounted them right back where they came from. The chassis trimmed very nicely for the body, and there was lots of room for mounting posts inside.

Thanks, guys. I have another Smilin Ray body of a Hudson that I'll run against it, but It'll be a while before I get to it. I just finished clearing the decks from that AMT review and its nice to be able to see the top of the table for a change!

LOL. Marty, how could you be asleep at 2pm?

David, I could only find two NASCAR legal 1949 Mercurys, and the other one was white with black numbers. It was too boring to even consider. I was amazed that I had the exact colors for this just sitting on my shelf. That's happened twice lately. Do you think I have too much paint? By the way way, I got a tiny little package from you today in perfect condition, and every piece is better than I ever imagined. Thanks.

Rob - Glad they made it. Like I said, they'll need a little clean up. Not like the next blob I send Jeremy...

Love that Merc!
