What after market tires do you recommend?

Postby Joe A » Tue Nov 06, 2012 8:47 pm

My plastic track is Carrera and my cars are all stock, various brands. I need to start thinking about getting tires, what do you recommend?
Thanks
Joe

Paul Gage. He makes a lot of tires that are great on that surface.

SlotCarCorner makes Yellow Dogs that I like as well. I use the new rounded sidewalls on my Slot.it's.

From my point of view you have been given very good advice. I have Scaley Sport plastic track and we use either supertires or Paul Gage tires, depending on the car.

We run non-mag on Carrera. Supertires are the tires we prefer.

NSR rubber worked well when I was running on plastic. Since then I've used the same and Paul Gage.

I have to agree on Supertires from Slot Car Corner, though I do have a place in my heart for Indy Grips. Both not only have good grip, but good fit on a variety of wheels as well.

However, if you venture to wood, do yourself a favor and get a set of ScaleAuto foam tires. Experiment with different compounds (they have three levels of softness) but you will be astonished with how good your car can be.

Just curious. Is there a major advantage using silicone instead of urethane or just preference. I run plastic track and have good luck with urethane as they seem not to collect so much dust.

sirslotalot, it does come down to preferance, but silicones generally work better if the track is cleaned regularly. If the track isn't cleaned on a regular basis, then urethanes generally work better, because as you mention, they don't collect and hold onto the dust.

We use the tires from KD tires and found a large difference on plastic and on wood,
if he hasn't got the ones u want just sent in what u need and he will make a pair .(MAKE ARRANGEMENTS)
Kevin was always helpfull for us. Now that I mention it, I should get another order together shortly !
