Actually, working on getting some inserts cast from a diecast Jag now. But it's a tri-nation effort. Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia. :)

Painting the wheels is easy enough. Make sure you clean them to remove any oils. I just clean with 70% alcohol.

The other step is not so easy, waiting for the paint to dry. If I chip the edges when getting heavy handed mounting the tires, I just touch up with a brush.

After collecting bits and pieces (and cars) for so long, I feel like this weekend this thing really took off. The fleet looks like it will be 8 cars, some with tops, some with tonneau covers, some all-out race cars with roll bars. A lot of them will be right out of the box cars with a lot of details added. I plan to do some as Mille Miglia cars, and some as SCCA cars. At this point, I'm still daydreaming this thing, but I'm having fun doing it. The internet is full of great pictures of cars to do.
