We're now back home after another fun-filled weekend of friendly racing with racing friends!
Thanks a lot to Dickie, Steve and other NH crew for organizing this race, we had a lot of fun seeing everyone again and meeting new friends. The race format was perfect and it's something that must be done again.
Congrats to Team CT, a job well done once again with great drivers and a very fast car. :1st
Team NH, on its local turf, wasn't able to pull it off but they certainly tried hard and came close at the end, with a car that had very good handling. It was a team effort all the way through. Team Michigan didn't know the track at all and struggled to find a good rhythm on this «point-and-shoot» circuit. But they kept trying and their car was probably the smoothest of the group. Good bunch of guys, it's always fun to race with Mike, Art, Dave and Rob. :)
As for us, Team QC, we had a very good car on Friday night and Saturday morning. During the race, it had way too much brakes and top speed was not optimal. We should have opened the car to see what was causing the trouble (we knew it wasn't the front axle) but the racing was so tight that we didn't want to jeopardize our position. After the race, we discovered that a small piece of cardboard that was used as a filler between the motor and the motor-retaining strap on the motor pod slid backwards at the start of the race and was rubbing on the crown gear. Shame on us for not gluing this piece of cardboard in the first place and shame on us for not having stopped during the race to see if we could do a repair (which would have been fast and given us 2-tenths on the track!). I know we should have been battling at least for a better place on the podium. We gave it our all and it was pretty good, despite this piece of cardboard. But hey, it was Slot.It cardboard!! :b
We all hope to see you again soon.
Christian, Team QC Driver
