Thoughts on this car?

Postby BRP32 » Fri Sep 13, 2013 10:09 am

Hi Guys!

I just purchased the car below and was wanting to know everyones thoughts on it as to its performance/experience with it magneted on plastic tracks?

I'm not familiar with BBR slot cars at all.

Just wanted to hear your experiences about them.

I purchased it because the paint scheme appealed to me.

Thanks for your insites!

They seem to be well made cars. I haven't bought any, but have looked at them several times. :)

They are now sold as MB Slot. I don't have any of their Ferraris, but I do have a Zonda. I think their chassis design changed with the company name change. The Zonda has quite an over complicated chassis. Under magnet straight from the box it is good but still requires driving. With the magnet out it took a lot of fiddling and adjusting to get it running well.

I have two of the Ferraris. The magnet(s) are virtually no help on plastic scalextric sport track. On wood with some good urethane tires like Paul Gage or Yellowdogs it is a good performer but on my opinion they are slightly over scale. Sitting next to a Scaley Ferrari F430 the difference is quite noticeable. The motor is a bit much for short home track set ups and in my opinion it runs better with an 18-20k motor installed.

When this car came out several years back, there were a few knowledgeable tuners who claimed that this was actually the best racing chassis available. It's a very capable car, in the right hands. Better than the current crop of Slot.It and NSR? I doubt it, but still a good car. :D
