Scalextric Challenger sighted

Is it my poor eyesight, a poor photo, or do those cars have black windows like their Start cars? If so, are they trying to condition us away from detailed interiors? If they are black window cars why the high price and why would anyone want to collect them? Inquiring minds want to know.

From my earlier post:

The collector's set is a little different than the boxed racing set's cars. The collectors set cars have working lights, lighly tinted class, and drivers. The racing set cars are resilients. No drivers, though there is an interior, dark "glass" and no working lights. No other noticeable differences.

As long as Scalex keep doing both the impact resistant and detail versions things will be sweet. But the IR versions really are well suited to the potential carnage of digital.

If they wanna go cheap, put clear windows in them and a cheap vacuform or plastic shelf inside to cover the electrical bits. That way I can add my own interior. But for that privilege, I expect a worthwhile discount for my trouble. The key to making a model a doable project for me is clear glass.

I agree, it looks very boxy. Anyone have any better pics of the challenger? Ill still but the Posey classic wax car but pass on the rest
