Jesla,
I do like that car. However . . . . .
Group 5 Racing, at least as defined by FIA, is kind of a convoluted category.
There are at least 4 Generations that I am aware of.
Generation #1 was from 1966 to 1969 and was for such cars as the Alfa Romeo Guiletta as you have shown. They were all categorized as "Special Touring Cars".
Generation #2 was a short one, from 1970 to 1971. Cars such as the Porsche 917K, 917LH, Ferrari 512M, Lola T70C and Ford GT40 MKI.
Generation #3 was the second shortest one with "Sports Cars" as the main thrust. Pretty much 5 litre motors in the cars and you could expect to see Alfa T33, Mirage M6 and similar cars.
Generation #4 was what was truly the longest one and the one that most folks think of when "Group 5 Racing" is used. It was designed to use "Special Production Cars" and was run from 1976 to 1982. This is where the Zakspeed Capris, Lancia Beta and Greenwood Corvettes did battle.
But even though it is a "Generation #1" Group 5 car, I love the appearance of the Alfa Guiletta a whole lot. Thanks for sharing.
