I have the plain red one, and was also not too impressed at how it first ran straight from the box. The NC-9 is too over-powered for how I'd like the Classics to run. I swapped the NC-9 to an NC-8, removed the magnet, and ditched the spring in the drivetrain for some magical clear tubing that our illustrious Janitor had graciously provided, and it made a world of difference. The car's long wheelbase combined with it's short track means that it's not going to rival a Ninco XK120, Ferrari 250 TR, or Corvette, (maybe it will if you leave the magnet in there) but it's still fun to drive.
