Re: pappy’s comment on waxing guide flag, I tested a few cars before and after coating the flag with PTFE by running laps on full power @ 4V and the Trackmate lady said they were definitely quicker after. I have it on hand because Prof. Motor calls for it in servicing its controllers.

I'm wary of the front tyre scrub theory, when cornering the inside front won't be touching the track anyway...or you're not driving fast enough.

Most of my cars have independent front ends, to make those I use a hollow axle with a ferrule in one end to act as a retainer. The wheel on that end does not have a set screw, the other side uses a set screw, so the axle does rotate. I use either Zero Grip rubber tires or hard low grip urethane tires, the rubber tires are coated with nail polish. If the front tires have little grip using independently rotating front wheels may have little effect in eliminating tire scrub. Since I don't have a 1/32nd track I have never done any testing to see if there would be any difference in lap times.

I solder one of these on each end of my front axle and don't use any set screws. Only the wheels rotate, not the axle.
