The new "Fina" McLaren is an anglewinder also.

The Lola is also equipped with the same drive train configuration.

This is one of the new cars from Slot.It I've been waiting for. It will be my first anglewinder from Slot.It. If I have trouble tuning it I have my buddy Fl_Slotter whom I know can get it running right.

The Fly version is perhaps my most favorite Fly car. I found myself lukewarm about the Slot.it version when it was announced, but I know there will be a white kit version sooner or later and I will break down and buy one...or two...

When the Slot.It Lola B09/60 was brought out, I purchased one. To be very truthful, it was not what I would call a good choice, at least right out of the box. There was a lot of noise coming from the drive train and body. The car seemed sluggish and I really was NOT impressed.

But I felt that since it was new techology in this scale, I started to go through the car like I would do for any of my 1/24th cars - which are just about all anglewinders.

The first I noticed was the gear mesh was somewhere between atrocious and horrible. Using my good old standby of a piece of cigarette paper - no I don't smoke, but you can buy cigarette papers at your local convenience store. A good frind of mine taught me to use this to set the gear mesh on anglewinders many years ago. It still works today.

I had to space the spur gear about .035 between the spur gear and the motor pod. Once I did this, the car ran much quieter. But it was still not "Slot. It Silent".

One of the things that really impressed me was the Flat-6 motor. I found it to have a very wide torque band and the power delivery was very smooth. I chose to change from a 28 tooth spur gear to a 28 tooth spur gear. I chose to go with an Ergal gear from Slot.It.

Next I put some M2 grub screws in the 4 holes in the chassis to 'float' the body off of the chassis. Once this was done, the Lola was a quiet and smooth as any Slot.It car I've ever owned.

The only difference was this was one of the fastest Slot.It cars I have ever owned.

When I purchased my McLaren Fina, I set the gears up and it was quiet and fast. No further work was needed.

I'm looking forward to getting the Porsche 911 EVO98 GT1 and see if the same characteristics are there as well.

I've not tried that particular combination, but every other conversion that I have tried has fit with no issues.

Should work well.

Give it a try and let us know.
