Looking for light curcuit help

Postby ecr » Fri Apr 26, 2019 10:27 am

I could use the help finding the brand and wire locations of this light circuit , I have reinstalled the missing
ground, but I think it is still missing the input power wires or maybe the output to the motor ???
Thanks

Not sure of the brand. It looks like you have the ground good. Is the positive wire soldered to anything? See if there is a pad labelled "+power" or something like that - it should be close to the one you used for the ground, and if you follow the trace from the positive side of the capacitor you should find it. Then just hook up the two lead wires to either your motor or braid. If you still can't get it... where are you in Ontario?

Yes the red was pre soldered .
I powered the chip with 10 vdc and lights did not come on. I was thinking I was missing something simple and thought someone may have a similar
light circuit to follow wire location, could have a burnt board ! Located in Peterborough

Thanks ecr :character-oldtimer:

If you really want the kit to work and can wait a couple weeks, you can send it to me and I will replace the board with one of my own units and send it back to you for no charge. Or, if you are going to be at Mosport on Victoria Day weekend we can meet up and give me the kit then. That would save you the $3 or so for a bubble mailer and postage.

Let me know,
Peter

Many thanks for the offer !
I don't know if I can even make this kit fit the white cougar I'm trying to relight, after kit bashing and using the lighted chassis in a 3D body.
I just happen to have this set of lights and tried to use what I have. I do have quite a few packaged lights from radio shack that were used for custom rydz .
I have used a few of these kits but they need a resistor and seem to be a bit lazy to come on and go out a bit early. Maybe they need a capasitor to work better.
Headlights are also real blue when lit.

The black cylindrical thing is the capacitor. Blue headlights means the voltage is too high.

You are right sir !
Found the same board in my 69 Nova, I did not look inside because I just assumed the directional switch was part of the circuit and the one
I'm trying to fix does not. Looks like I am missing the motor leads. The lights should have still come on when I powered the board before,
I am going to ad the leads and a motor to try again. I may still have a dud.
Thanks

Rewired following the other chip, looks like the board is shorted.
Going to start another post looking for exact fit lights for this car !!!
