Here's a chance to own some very nice cars that competed well in this year's La Carrera PanAmericana-2 proxy series.
These cars have been orphaned, due to the loss of some of our HRW members, and as a tribute to them we're going to auction their cars off to the highest bidders. All of the proceeds will go to HRW (I'll cover the shipping), so support your former forum members and your favorite slot car forum at the same time. These, as you'll see below, are some great cars!
These cars all have the Thompson Smith (StudioRS) custom PanAmericana-2 decals, as well as stickers from South Africa and New Zealand; truly a unique group of racers!
First up: Ferrari 750 Monza Current Bid = $100 Winner: Chappy PAID
This is a Keith Hines (Retro Racer 44) car and is built from a munter resin body sitting on a custom brass chassis. This car came 4th overall in the PanAmericana-2 series, so it's a good runner as well as a good looker!
Next up: Lancia D-24 Current Bid = $100 Winner: Chappy PAID
This is another Retro Racer 44 car; this one finishing 5th overall in the PanAmericana-2 series. It's also a munter resin body sitting on a custom brass chassis.
And next: Studebaker Current Bid = $90 Winner: dge467 PAID
This is also a Retro Racer 44 car. I think we all recall his interest in the Studebaker; his first one having started the year before as a block of wood and a resin cast. This one is a custom 3DP body mounted on a podded, custom brass chassis. In the non-sports car class, it did quite well in the series; finishing in 11th place overall and way up near the top of the larger cars.
Next up: Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Current Bid = $50 Winner: Z-carfan PAID
This is a Dave Teftt (tsgtret) car. A munter resin body sitting on top of a custom brass chassis. It's a neat little car with an aged racing patina, great decals and nice details. Note the Bob Taylor (btaylor) co-pilot decal on the side.
And finally: '49 Ford Current Bid = $50 Winner: Austin PAID
This is a Don Murphy (MRollingThunder) car and, typical of Don's sense of humor, carries the name "Mad Dog Margarita" on it! It's an injection molded plastic body sitting on top of a plastic chassis. Great colors, decals and "flair"; baby moons and the whole enchilada - a fun car to run on any track!
So, there you go; 5 great PanAmericana-2 racers. Be as generous as you can on your bids, because all these builders were generous in what they gave to our hobby. Plus, all proceeds go to HRW!
I'll keep the auction open until midnight on Friday, then announce the winners on Saturday morning (24th).
Gentlemen - the bidding is now open!
Good luck!
Allan
