Hey folks, I am looking for some help picking a 1/32 digital set. I’ve searched several forums and online sources as well as the local hobby town and was quickly overwhelmed. Unfortunately there are no local slot car tracks or Cubs. I am trusting that you can help.

I have two grown sons coming home for Christmas and am looking for a set to plus up the man cave over the holidays. I envision the boys and neighbors enjoying eveinings of 3 or 4 up racing during the cold winter months. We live in an airport community so our friends are mostly like me: competitive, type-A pilots who think we can drive or fly anything better than the other guy :music-rockout:

We’ve done the HO thing when the boys were young and still have the set, but I am looking for a bigger set that we can enjoy as a group. Initial research has me wanting 1/32, digital, more than two cars. This will be set up on a ping pong table for a few months each winter. We have Extensive background with model planes and RC off road cars so not a stranger to the technical side. I am thinking starter set with 3 or 4 cars and adding track to fit the PP table. Layout suggestions are welcome!

Welcome to the forum.
Carrera DTM Cars are pretty evenly matched. I think you can just add a digital car and controller to any digital set.

Im not sure what slot car set Bass Pro shop is selling this year. It is usually nascar themed.

What is your general location? There are clubs or some basement racers in many different places, Maybe one near you.

After reading your post I think the going with the arc pro might be what you are looking for. you can get a lot more track onto the ping pong table that you can with Carrera. race up to 6 cars lane changing.

Carrera is good - start with 1/32 and them pick up 4 of the big 1/24 cars and an 18v power supply and have some rumbling fun...

You can't really go wrong with either Scalextric or Carrera - checkout the cars and pick the one that has cars you want to race -

Thank you for the responses. The Scalextric 4 car set looks like the easiest turn key set up but I like the idea of the 1/24 option with Carrera. Still reading and learning. Any and all suggestions welcome.

Carrera will be really tight on a ping pong table. If you can go a little larger on the table size say around 12 x 5, than Carrera Digital would be a really good choice given that you can run both scales.

Arc Pro would be a great option. The wireless controllers are great and the app control is easy to use. Scaley chips are easy to put into about any car out there, and the Slot.It chips are also an option for Scaley track.

Where are you located? Always good to let people know that so you can see what others around you are using. It's good to be able to run the same as those around you.

I'm all about Carrera but the better option on a ping pong size table will be Scalextric. Make your table bigger! lol Either way you'll have fun.

Hey folks, a quick update. We have a Carrera DTM Countdown arriving the first of the week. We are getting some additional track pieces including lane changes and pit lane and a set of wireless controllers from Czar. I decided that adding a temporary extension to the PP table will give us room for the Carrera track and keep us off the floor. Initially we’ll use the set’s layout with some extended straights. Then we can experiment with different layouts after the first of the year. I’ll add a couple of cars and we’ll be racing 4 up be a Christmas.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. A special shout out to Czar. We have spoken several times and his help has been priceless. He Understood exactly what our goals are and steered us in he right direction. Thanks, John.

Sounds good - won't be long and you will be getting some of the Carrera 1/24 DTM cars to race as well :)

And so it begins....DTM countdown plus an awesome box of goodies from Czar. We’ll play with layouts on the floor and then go to a table after the first of the year. I feel like I’m 11 again :dance: :banana-dance: :music-rockout:
