Nice one Harry , mine is currently in the mail system.
Im only aware of John Surtees and perhaps Jo Siffert driving these. 3 possible liveries, unfortunately not the most successful Mclarens put out but a fantastic looking slot car for the legends collection, and my bet is it will be more successful on the home tracks than on the real tracks lol.

Agreed, this is a very nice looking car. Trans Am remains my favored class of race car, with Le Mans type world sportscars second for road track racing. Since I already have over 60 of those cars these bug me because if I dare buy one of them it'll be a downward spiral till I have all of them to create a series.

Two other thoughts - the drivers in these cars are really exposed compared to modern F1 and Indy cars. So many great drivers died in racing accidents due to car designs that valued speed over safety, poor track layouts (racing on public roads without runoff areas), and an attitude "it's just part of the sport". Do a search for 'racing's deadliest decade' and you'll find this quote: Between 1966 and 1975, 28 Formula 1 and top professional drivers died. That’s one in three.

Okay, back to slot car replicas - how do the tires hook up on non-magnet tracks? The realistic tires add to the overall look of the cars, but do they offer any traction? From the pictures they look as though they might me hard and slick. Are they serviceable on a wood track without magnetic braid, or do they have to be replaced with silicone or urethane tires to really enjoy them?

The problem with the open wheel cars is that they are so fragile.

P.S. Trans/Am is my favorite class. The had a 50th anniversary race last September at Watkins Glen. It was fantastic. I even took some of my Scaley cars there and took pictures with the slot car and actual cars together. The 1:1 car owners were fantastic to talk to. Some even handed out baseball sized cards with their car and info on them. We were allowed on the track before the race to see all the cars lined up.

Guess it depends on your own racing.

I have not had any damage that could not be quickly repaired.

That is great about your race visit.

Nice looking car and if it runs as good as the earlier cars it should be fun.

However, what a horrible rendition of Big John's helmet! It is one of the simplest helmet designs around and the manufacturers still get it wrong.
