Carrera controller

Postby frank9129 » Sun Apr 23, 2017 5:29 pm

I was given a Carrera track.
I set up a bull ring and plugged everything in.
Nothing.
I have continuity between the power base and the lanes. The wall wart works when tested with a car. The only thing left is the controllers.
How do you test the controllers to tell if they are the problem? If I had three hands maybe I could test continuity. :violin:
HELP !! :bow-blue: :bow-blue:

Analog ?
If they are red controllers polarity is important, check your power connection.
Clip your test leads to a couple of the controller terminals and activate the controller.
Brake and 1 won't do anything, brake and the other have continuity at rest, the two for speed control will vary resistance with actuation.

Digital?
Would take some research to find out how they work....sorry.

Yes, they are the red controllers.
I will give it a try tomorrow.

The red Carrera controllers are electronic PWM.
The controllers themselves will only plug in one way, but the power connection can plug in either way.
The black controllers are resistor type and don't care.

I plugged the power cord + to +. Still nothing.
It should work. They are made to work.
There is always tomorrow.

If you jumper the two outer controller connections your car should have full power.
The center controller connection should be at 14.8 volts +/-.
Carrera is negative polarity. (the controller runs the negative side of the circuit).
What kind of cars ? Carrera digital won't run backwards on an analog track.

I have been a bit under the weather.
I am testing the track with a Carrera car.
Maybe tomorrow if the weather holds out.
Thanks
